Worship Wednesday-Beth Moore Study

http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4227938655&group=0&frame_type=a&context=feed_all&context_ids=&blog=12763035&frame=1&click=0&user=0

Is it really Wednesday already?? My spring break is flying by! Monday will surely be here before I know it.

I am linking up with Adventures Of A Schoolmarm for her Worship Wednesday linky. I have a confession. I don't usually like devotional books. There's nothing wrong with them. They are just not my thing. I get more out of just reading and studying scripture. Last summer, a group of ladies from church had a Beth Moore Bible study. I wanted to join in on a summer Bible study but wasn't really sure about Beth Moore. I had heard a lot of good things about her BUT she does "devotional" studies. Well, I joined in and LOVED it!! I'm currently doing her book called, "Jesus, The One and Only". It is actually very fitting with Easter coming up. Last night, I read Luke 22:54-62 when Peter denied knowing Jesus.
vs. 60 -62- Peter replied, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.
Friends, can you imagine how Peter felt when Jesus's eyes met his. I'm sure his heart literally felt like it was breaking in half!

Hope you're having a good hump day. Be sure to link up here.

I'm linking up with Crafting Connections for her Monday linky... During guided reading and modeled writing, I often talk about the "H" brothers. I like to refer to the posters but they have somehow gotten lost. I was ecstatic when I found this anchor chart.  Definitely going to make it after spring break! The original is here.
This week is my spring break. It's suppose to rain all week! Boo!! Oh well, I guess a wet break is better than no break!

Enjoy your Monday!

Short Week of Dr. Seuss

This is my favorite Dr. Seuss quote! Since we had two snow days, my kiddos only had three days of Dr. Seuss fun.
Monday-Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! We began our day by reading The Cat In The Hat.  Monday was all about the cat!
I got this awesome packet from 1st Grade Hip Hip Horray! You can find it on her TPT here.
Thumb print cats are great! I found the original here.

Tuesday- More cat love! We read The Cat In The Hat Comes Back. My students dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
You gotta have a craft to go with almost everything in 1st grade. Right???

I found this cute hand print here.
Students loved One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish!
Original is here.
Wednesday-We dressed for Wacky Wednesday. Bad weather was coming in so the students assumed we would be out the next two days for snow and next week will be spring break and it's been a while since they've been able to go out and play. ALL of that combined truly made us have a crazy Wacky Wednesday!!...That afternoon, I ran into a gas station. Everyone kept glancing at me. After wondering for a minute what the deal was, I realized I was still dressed wacky! Oh well, life of a teacher.

After reading The Lorax, my firsties wrote about how they would save the truffula trees. At the end of the day, we watched the movie.
Sheewww!! We got a lot of stuff done in a short amount of time!
Enjoy your weekend!!

Five For Friday...Saturday Style

http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4220641129&group=0&frame_type=a&context=feed_all&context_ids=&blog=2733518&frame=1&click=0&user=0

It's that time again, Five For Friday! Friends, this has been a WILD week. Just like many of you, I'm SICK of winter. That bring me to number 1.
Snow Day-I'm a southern girl. We don't do snow and ice here. Well, it won't quit snowing! I'm. So. Tired. Of. It.! On the bright side, I did get a few cute pics of my kiddos.
My sweet Noah was trying to figure out what the white stuff was.
Say cheese daddy!
Snowball fight

Black History Month- Since we have a new reading series, I didn't teach as many Black History Heroes as I wanted to. There's just no time to fit everything in. Isn't that the story of our lives?? Anyway, here's a few pics I snapped.

The Dress- My students wanted to have their say about the color of this dress. The teacher in me made it into a math problem! 16 saw black & blue  3 saw gold & white  I'm team gold & white! I tried and tried and tried and tried to see black and blue. It just wasn't there for me!

National Boards- Last Saturday was "Assessment Saturday". It was a GREAT day! I'm not quite as scared unsure about the process.  I think this is doable.

That's right! We. Made. It.!!! I absolutely adore my first graders but this teacher right here is in need of some R&R!!

Link up here to tell about your week.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Throwback Thursday

Oh ya'll! Let's do a little math problem. Snow day + pay day + TPT sale = SCORE.

http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4204387969&group=0&frame_type=a&context=feed_all&context_ids=&blog=6840785&frame=1&click=0&user=0

I'm linking up with The Teacher's Desk for a Throwback Thursday.
This appeared August 8, 2014. The night before this school year began. I'm sure my kiddos were just as nervous to meet me as I was to meet them.

As I drove home today, I realized the next time I see my classroom, it will be full of new faces. I think I am ready!
Anybody out there using Reading Street? Do you like it? Tonight, I've been looking for materials that other teachers use to enhance the curriculum.  Yep it's Friday night and I am working on school stuff.  I guess that's just what we do! :)

I printed these cute story elements from Teaching with Hope. She's very talented! Several co-workers kept saying how cute they are.  I. Love. Them! It's exactly what I needed to replace my old posters! Check it out here.

I remember I had left a comment on Hope's blog and she sent me the posters FREE! Without begging asking for them. Sweet girl! I'm still getting compliments on this banner!

Now it's your turn. Throw back and link up with us here.

Lovin' This Snow Day!

Today is our 1st Snow day. It. Is. Coming. Down.! My boys are so excited and can't wait to build a snowman!!

I'm linking up with Mrs. Stanford's Class to share my hump day highlight. Don't you just love her blog?? She is one of my favorite bloggers!

During calendar time on Wednesdays, my students ask to watch the Hump Day commercial. Here's the link if your kiddos want  to watch it too. Hump Day Commercial Link We also love the remix! Hump Day Remix Link

I'm a little late, but here's pics from our 100th day of school.
The kiddos had sooo much fun crawling into our room! I got this cute idea from Mrs. Bright.

Teachers and students dressed as 100 year olds. Those kids were adorable carrying around walking sticks and canes!
Our first grade hall has 10 classrooms. We went room to room doing different activities. I started my rotation with Curious George making groups of tens.Curious George Link
Then, each child cut out circles and pasted all 100 of them in our big gum ball machine.

Last, they painted 10 dots in 10 groups to make 100.

I got most of these activities from TPT, Marrissa Zimmer's store.

Oh my goodness! I just got the news that TPT will be extending the sale an extra day! YAY!!!
