Five For Friday..Spring Break Style!

Our spring break is this week. It's been nice having down time! I enjoyed our staycation.

My first grade hall celebrated Dr. Seuss last week. On Thursday, the first graders presented "The Grinch Stole The Rhyme". Oh my gosh, it was so stinkin' cute!! The stage was decorated with bright colors, the kiddos were dressed in Whoville clothes, and most of the teachers were Thing 1 and Thing 2. Of course, we had to have blue hair!

The first few days of spring break was spent like this! I was MISERABLE! Thank The Lord for antibiotics and Sudafed!

WooHoo!! That's right.. NO homework.. NO lunches to pack.. and most importantly NO ALARM CLOCKS were set!!

Once I felt better, we had to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather! Oh my! It's been soooooo nice lately!!  My kiddos enjoyed going to the park and feeding the ducks.

I ran across a few post on Instagram about Slant Box. How have I never heard of this before??? You WANT to go run to Lessons With Coffee's blog and sign up. The Slant Box is a monthly swap box for teachers. It doesn't matter if you're a blogger or a non blogger. Everyone will be matched up with a new friend! Registration ends soon!

What is this cute calendar used for?? It's my new blog calendar. Hopefully It's going to keep me organized with blog posts and TPT. I just know it!...fingers crossed..

Short Week of Dr. Seuss

This is my favorite Dr. Seuss quote! Since we had two snow days, my kiddos only had three days of Dr. Seuss fun.
Monday-Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! We began our day by reading The Cat In The Hat.  Monday was all about the cat!
I got this awesome packet from 1st Grade Hip Hip Horray! You can find it on her TPT here.
Thumb print cats are great! I found the original here.

Tuesday- More cat love! We read The Cat In The Hat Comes Back. My students dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
You gotta have a craft to go with almost everything in 1st grade. Right???

I found this cute hand print here.
Students loved One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish!
Original is here.
Wednesday-We dressed for Wacky Wednesday. Bad weather was coming in so the students assumed we would be out the next two days for snow and next week will be spring break and it's been a while since they've been able to go out and play. ALL of that combined truly made us have a crazy Wacky Wednesday!!...That afternoon, I ran into a gas station. Everyone kept glancing at me. After wondering for a minute what the deal was, I realized I was still dressed wacky! Oh well, life of a teacher.

After reading The Lorax, my firsties wrote about how they would save the truffula trees. At the end of the day, we watched the movie.
Sheewww!! We got a lot of stuff done in a short amount of time!
Enjoy your weekend!!

Ending to Dr. Seuss Week

Yesterday was my first day of Spring Break! Wooo Hoooo!!!!  That's right, no setting the alarm clock next week for this girl right here! There are no words to explain how excited I am! My plans are to rest, take my boys to the park, rest, eat ice cream, rest, cuddle with our baby, rest, go to the zoo, rest, stalk blogs, and catch up on making a few activities to post on TPT.

Although I really don't love Dr. Seuss, I have to admit that I enjoyed the last two weeks! It was fun reading his books! The students did a quick character study on Dr. Seuss. He's a pretty neat man! Can't believe I forgot to make Oobleck! Guess I will do that when school resumes. It's never too late to play with Oobleck. Right??

On Friday, the cafeteria made green eggs and ham for the K-2 students.  While they ate, our principal read, "Green Eggs And Ham".
My little boy, Sam, loved green eggs and ham!

The grinch was having too much fun!

Each hall had a door contest. My classroom won on our hall! They celebrated with an ice cream party! It was the perfect ending to a fun week!

I hope you have a GREAT week!!!

Kick off for Dr. Seuss Week!

It's been a while since I've been on here. A really long time.. In my defense, this little guy is my reason.
Our baby Noah is three months old. He has brought SOOO much joy to our lives!!

My class is doing a Dr. Seuss theme for two weeks. Yesterday, we kicked it off with hat day.
The students did a Cat in the Hat family project this weekend. Each cat was cute. Some were.. well...different. But they had a blast doing it!
To be honest, Dr. Seuss is not my favorite thing! A few of the books get on my nerves! BUT I'm being a good sport! The kiddos don't have a clue!

I made an instagram account for my blog. Yep I know I'm the last blogger in blogger land to do this.  I have to admit, I do enjoy it!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!....Currently directions

My school began our Dr. Seuss unit yesterday. Before the bell rang to begin school, the principal led everyone into singing "Happy Birthday" to Dr. Seuss. It was sweet! After my kiddos took test, my room was all about Cat in the Hat. We read the book, watched a small video of it, and made a few things...Each grade is having a "Dr. Seuss Door Contest". The winners get an ice cream party. My door matches my neighbor's door. Here's the before pics. We plan on adding a few things to it next week. I will post after pics soon.
