Five For Friday...on Saturday

Dear Blog,
This is your first post of 2016! I promise not to neglect you this year. I will make an effort to write with you several times each month.
Sincerely,
Your busy owner

Don't ya just love Doodle Bugs Teaching?? I've found lots of good teacher blogs in her link parties.

Monday- started wearing a fitbit flex this week. I have to say I love this thing! I like that it keeps me accountable. If you use a fitbit account, I would love to be your friend!...just don't laugh at my slow progress. I'm a newbie to this healthy life style thing...
Tuesday-The kids came back to school. They were VERY quiet! Like scary quiet. We set New Year's resolutions for home and school..The kids made a cute craft and writing but of course I forgot to take a picture. Oops! ...You can find this foldable book here.

Next, we read The Mitten. I love that there are T.O.N.S of activities on Pinterest and TPT for this book.
Each year, I do a sequence activity with this book. I found this activity and really liked it! You can find it here.

Wednesday-The Hat. I didn't know this book existed until this week. The kids really liked it. A couple of them noticed this book had farm type animals and The Mitten had forest animals. After they mentioned that, we had to compare them.

Thursday-The Snowy Day.  I read a teacher blog that said she planned to do a lot of activities using snow. I wish we got snow. We only usually get ice :( When we read this book, my students couldn't  really make a personal connection with it. Most have never been in deep snow. A few have never built a snowman..This book is awesome for cause and effect..I found this freebie on TPT. You can grab it here.

Friday-Tacky The Penguin We dressed up tacky for our friend Tacky The Penguin.
This is a great activity for the book. I chose to do it whole group.
I hope you have a restful weekend. I am enjoying my rainy lazy day!

  1. I'm so glad I discovered your blog! Thanks for stopping by mine. Snowy Day and The Hat are two of my all-time favorite books. I'm a little sad, because my 3rd graders have all heard them and my children are a little bit too old to fully appreciate them! I guess I'll have to wait 15 or 20 years for some grandchildren to read to!
